We set up Selecta in the Community to support employees projects, initiatives or charities that they are involved in or have a personal connection with.

Happy Feet Dance Academy.

Julie Collier's (Senior Customer Support Advisor) daughter Stacie has been a member of the Happy Feet Dance Academy for the past 12 years and both Julie and other Selecta employees at our Basingstoke office have also attended the Academy. 

Diane Gould has run Happy Feet Dance Academy for 16 years putting on classes throughout the week from modern jazz to tap dancing and hip hop. It really is a place where people can learn, meet others and have fun!

Every 2 years The Academy puts on an amazing show which involves 150 talented dancers from 4 year olds to 60 plus! This years show 'Hit the Dance Floor' was held at the Anvil Theatre in Basingstoke in July and Selecta is proud to have supported them with £200 towards costumes for their show.

 Diane Gould from Happy Feet Dance Academy says, "I would like to thanks Selecta for their support this year. The show was a huge success and Happy Feet Dance Academy managed to raise over £2000 from the show's raffle for local charities bringing the total raised for charity over the years to £15,000!"

St. Michael's Hospice.

St. Michael's Hospice provides facilities and support for patients with terminal cancer offering a comfortable and homely environment for them to spend their last days. Three of our employeess - Christine Dolton, Jessica Taylor and Lynsey McDonald - recommended St. Michael's Hospice to receive funding from Selecta in the Community. They each had someone close to them spend time at the hospice and received tremendous support from the St. Michael's staff.

Christine Dolton (Credit Controller, Selecta) says, "My partner spent time at St. Michael's Hospice and it made me aware of the exceptional job all the staff and volunteers do under extreme circumstances. The support they have shown has helped me through this difficult time. I cannot praise them enough."

The Hospice relies heavily on donations and support from volunteer workers. To raise money, St. Michael's organised a 'Girls Night Our' for women to take part in an 11 mile midnight walk around the boundaries of Basingstoke on the 5th September. Christine, Jessica and Lynsey wanted to give something back to St. Michael's Hospice so they asked for Selecta to support this very worthwhile cause. As part of Selecta in the Community we are proud to have provided £600 sponsorship for the Midnight Walk on their behalf.

 The Midnight Walk was a huge success raising over £140,000 which is the biggest total ever raised for the hospice from a single event. More than 1,100 women took part including Jessica and Lynsey with many wearing colourful outfits, flashing bunny ears or dressed as angels.

Selecta in the Community has also supported Cancer Research UK and Leukemia Research providing £200 for each charity.

As part of Our Sustainable Approach we are supportive of community initiatives, both locally and globally, and also support activity undertaken by our supply chain.
